MARTIAL ARTS EXPERIENCE
Sensei Russell was in a motorcycle accident January first, 2002 and broke his leg vertically. He could not walk for three months while the fracture was healing. After recovery he was looking for physical therapy and saw a flyer at a local convenience mart saying karate classes were to begin in Benson on July eleventh, 2002. Karate was something he had always wanted to do but never had the opportunity.
His wife was pregnant with his third child and on the morning of July eleventh his daughter was born at 5:23 am. At 6:00 pm while his wife and new daughter were resting in the hospital he began his journey in martial arts. This was a great day for remembering.
He began training in Tai Shin Ki Do under Sensei Frank Hough in Benson, AZ and received his black belt in 2004.
In 2006 he was given permission to open his dojo in Vail, AZ. Opening day was February tenth, 2006 and the dojo has been open since then.
