AOKA Central Texas Philosophy and Goals
We at AOKA Central Texas feel that Tai Shin Ki Do is a "well rounded" style of Martial Art. It invloves empty-hand techniques, forms (Kata), weapons (Kobudo), Tai Chi, Kempo, Aikido as well as some ground techniques. We learn to roll and fall as they do in Aikido and Jujitsu. We use joint locking techniques, throws, take downs as found in kempo, aikido and jujitsu and of course the karate punch/kick/block.
Tai Shin Ki Do to us is a Martial Art that can be practiced over a lifetime. Men, women, and kids of all ages will gain something from Tai Shin Ki Do and its teachings. We encourage respect for self and others, self discipline, setting personal goals and promote self confidence, all things the student can use to improve all areas of their lives.
AOKA Central Texas goals:
• Learn a martial art based on a traditional Okinawan art known as Isshin-ryu
• learn practical self defense techniques
• promote physical fitness
• increase self-esteem and self confidence
• train with your family
• gain discilpline and respect for self and others
• most of all... have FUN doing it
